. Department Of Botany

• Dept. of Botany is one of the oldest dept. of Jai-Hind college.
• Late Prof. T.G.Khubchandani, Ex- Principal and founder member of Jai-Hind college was the first   Head of the dept. of Botany. He was succeeded by Prof. K.C. Sherier, Dr. Prof. B. Sasikumar and   Dr. Mrs. S. Sasikumar as Heads of Botany Dept. To add on to this eminent list were teachers like   Prof. P.J. Dubhash and Prof. M.G. Malkani who were strong pillars of the Botany Dept.
• Presently Dept. is Headed by Dr. Mrs. B.M. Tamhane.
• Presently the assets of the dept. are Dr. Mrs. A.N.Joshi, Dr. Mrs. S.A.Godbole, Dr. Mrs.   K.D.Chawla and Dr. Mrs.D.Chachad

• All the present and past staff members of Botany dept. have always been actively involved in   Research.
• Botany dept. lab is the only lab in Jai-Hind college which is recognized by University of Mumbai for   M.Sc. and Ph.D by research.
• Dr. Mrs. B.M.Tamhane and Dr. Mrs. A.N.Joshi are both recognized guides for M.Sc. and Ph.D.   degree in Botany. A.N.Joshi is also a recognized guide for M.Sc. by research in Biotechnology.
  Highlights
• Botany dept. teachers are also actively involved in training students of other biological sciences like   Life-sciences and Biotechnology along with Botany in various Horticultural skills like Indoor gardening   (preparation of Terrariums, Bottle gardens Bonsai, etc) Landscape gardening, and various Floral   arrangements and displays (Indian, Western and Japanese Styles)
