The
commerce department of Jai Hind college was set up in the
year 1980 and has been continuously striving to impart quality
education in the commerce discipline. In addition to the B.Com
undergraduate classes the department also handles lectures
in the Arts faculty as a part major combination ie Economics/
Commerce. The department offers two applied component papers
ie Advertising at the second year B.Com class and Export Marketing
at the final year B.Com class. The department further offers
three papers in Business Management at the final year B.Com
class as a subject of specialization. Year on year, majority
of our students obtain a first class at the Mumbai University
exams.The department has commenced Commerce Association for
the students since 2005 for involving students in various
co-curricular activities. Since its inception in 2005,the
Commerce Association holds 4-5 workshops & it has released
3 Editions of the Commerce Newsletter “Elevaura”.

Achievements
|
The
TY.B.com results of the students have been consistently more
than 95%.Number of students with distinction percentages in
final year has been continuously increasing.
Mrs Hasina Sayed -
Presented a paper on ‘ Entrepreneurial Culture ’ at the International
Research seminar on Entrepreneurship at the D.Y.Patil Institute
of Management & Research in Nov, 2008.
Mr Ashutosh Saxena -
Presented a paper on ‘Recession & Human Resource Mgmt,challenges
& strategies’in International Conference on Recession at Mumbai
University on 18th December,2009.

| Highlights
|
-Department
is commencing M.Com course from June 2010.
-Students have won Ist and IInd position in “Bliss Point”in
2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
-2/3 students have been recepients of the Sumitomo scholarship
every year since its inception.
