About the
department
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program at Jai Hind College, established in 1948, is open to students from all streams. The program emphasizes analyzing current national and international issues and offers experiential learning opportunities. Many alumni continue their studies at prestigious global universities and excel in competitive exams such as UPSC, MPSC, CLAT, NET, and SET. Our students participate in events like the Youth Parliament and debates, and they find placements in government, NGOs, think tanks, and international organizations.

Political Science is a One-person Department and is headed by Dr. Reema Julka since 2008. She is also a Deputy Coordinator of IQAC, Member of the Admission Committee, Unfair means Committee, Teacher’s Academic Forum (TAF), NAAC Criterion I and the Chairperson of the Political Science Forum.

The Political
Science Forum
Field Visits and Workshops
The Students are taken on a field visit to the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Mumbai High Court, etc. Several workshops are organized on topics like Public Policy and relevant political issues.
Guest Lectures and Talks
Various guest lectures are organized on current national or international issues sometimes guest lectures are held on topics related to the syllabi.
Student's Seminar
Every year an annual Student's Seminar is organized to allow students to inculcate research and presentation skills.
The Youth Parliament
This event is organized to help students understand the actual proceedings of the House and to inculcate debating skills and leadership qualities.
Commemoration of Important Days
The Political Science Forum organizes several events to celebrate significant days e.g., UN DAY, Constitution Day, Human Rights Day, Youth Day, Van Mahotsav, and many more.
