About the
department
The Department offers this course to all First Year B.Com students in the Commerce faculty. Since its inception in 1980, this course, initially known as Commercial Geography, has evolved significantly. The importance of the course was brought to light by a Supreme Court intervention in 1991, which led to its expansion and integration into our curriculum at various levels.
About the
HOD
Dr. Udhav Zarekar is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Environmental Studies. Currently also serving as the Vice Principal of Commerce, he has presented several research papers at national and international conferences and has published his work at reputed journals and proceedings. As an administrator, he is actively involved in various college committees. He has also completed three minor research projects sanctioned by the University of Mumbai.

the HOD
Welcome to Jai Hind College (Empowered Autonomous). As Head of Department of Environmental Studies, we offer an essential course to first-year B.Com students, focusing on environmental issues from local to global levels. Given the numerous environmental challenges today, our department is dedicated to creating awareness among students. This Ability Enhancement Course teaches students how to collect and analyze noise pollution data, along with skills like map reading and map filling, using modern teaching methods. Our college’s autonomous status enables us to implement a skill-based syllabus across all faculties, allowing us to nurture knowledgeable, well rounded and capable students.
