Established in 1981, our Department of Microbiology has been committed to providing quality education in both teaching and research. Recognized under the 'STAR College Scheme' by the Government of India, we focus on building a strong foundation in microbiology and fostering a research culture. Our students have a strong academic track record, and many have gone on to complete their Master's and Doctorate degrees, showcasing their achievements in both academics and extracurricular activities.

The Department of Microbiology at Jai Hind College offers a B.Sc. program that combines classroom learning with hands-on research. Our faculty members are both experienced and enthusiastic, bringing the latest knowledge to their teaching. Students study various areas, including genetics and biotechnology, and work on research projects that often get published. Activities Under Department
We engage in science awareness programs where students teach schoolchildren about microbiology and conduct basic experiments. Our outreach activity involves analyzing drinking water for neighboring societies and promoting social responsibility. Additionally, we educate students on waste segregation and biocomposting of kitchen waste to encourage environmental sustainability.
Student Achievement:
Students achieved notable successes across various competitions and events. They excelled at Jai Hind College's Achievers Night, received prizes in quizzes, and won 1st Prize in X’plore and the State Level Microbiolympiad. They advanced to the final round of the Aavishkar Research Convention and won several 1st Prizes in debates, quizzes, product presentations, and competitions at events hosted by SIWS College, Mithibai College, and K.J. Somaiya College. Nationally, they secured the 3rd prize at the Microbiolympiad.
